Description:

Analytical Services and Materials, Inc. (AS&M) has an immediate opening for a full-time Contracts Accountant to work at its Corporate Headquarters in Hampton, VA.

We are looking for candidates with accounting experience that are willing to learn the skills required for government contracting. The Contracts Accountant would be responsible for coordinating complex financial data related to the administration and management of government contracts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with internal and external customers to ensure adequate financial management of the contract throughout the agreement’s life cycle

  • Participate in the preparation agreements and amendments, specifications, tests, and progress reports.

  • Analyze and recommend improvements to the accounting process

  • Review financial agreements for conformity to contract requirements.

  • Prepare, deliver, and present on spreadsheets with formulas and data analysis.

  • Ensure timely processing of department reports and deliverables. Generate reports on contract activity, as required.

  • Establish and manage consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and teaming agreements.

  • Provide input to the other members of the contracting department regarding the financial management requirements

  • Ensure timely processing of department and contract activity reports and the timely submission of contract deliverables.

  • Compile, maintain, and prepare financial data, reports, and schedules

Qualifications and Experience:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, contracting, or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred

  • 1-5 years of professional, general, accounting, or contracting experience is preferred

  • Must pass criminal background check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in one or more areas of accounting (account reconciliation, billing, accounts payable, general accounting)

Must be willing to learn new skills

  • Ability to deal with multiple assignments is necessary

  • Great communication skills including the ability to write effectively.

  • Experience in Deltek/Costpoint or another timesheet software platform is preferred
