Description

AS&M has an exciting opportunity for a System Verification and Validation Engineer to join our team.

We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews.

Responsibilities

The System Verification and Validation Engineer will be:

  • Experienced developing test cases and test scripts for software verification efforts

  • Experienced integrating software from various vendors

  • Experienced with developing tests for dynamic physical systems

  • Experienced with data analysis and simulation techniques

  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Requisition Qualifications:

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship required for this position.

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate’s experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area

  • Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop and test high criticality software

  • Experience with highly autonomous systems

  • Experience with web-based collaboration tools

  • Proficiency with C/C++ coding in a Linux environment

  • Experience with agile software development

  • Should be a quick learner and self-motivated

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude

Requisition Preferences

  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python

  • Experience developing software across the full development life cycle

  • Knowledge of the NASA Gateway Spacecraft systems and software

  • Experience with the following web-based collaboration tools

    • JIRA

    • Confluence

    • Slack

    • SharePoint

  • Safety and flight critical software development

  • NASA software and systems development standards

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
